Credit/Debit Card Processing

Hello!

We have found that we are receiving more requests from clients that want to pay their statements with a debt or credit card. Does anyone take cards? And if so, who is your vendor and what fees are attached?

Thank you,

  2. We accept cards, however I won’t recommend our processor. We are actually going to be doing a RFP for card services later this year.

    Thanks,

  3. Watonwan County uses Value Payment Systems. This is the same system in our county that allow people to pay their property taxes with credit/debit/echeck.

The convenience fee is automatically added to the clients payment. 2.35% for credit, 1.5% debit (minimum $1.95) or a flat fee of $1.50 for electronic checks.
The client can enter all of their information and payment and it will give them their total with the convenience fee before that accept to make the payment.

Every day at 6am, I get an email that tells me of any payments made the day before from 6am-5:59am. We then typically see the payment in our checking account 24-48 hours after the payment was made.

If you want our contact person, let me know and I can give it to you!

  5. According to Dakota County Accounts Receivable, Dakota County uses Paymentus, approximately a 2.45% fee. Some items the user is paying the fees (like Taxes and Sheriff’s) other times we pay the fee in a monthly billing process. Dakota County needed heavy internal IT involvement to make this work.

  6. Southwest Health & Human Services uses PayGov. There is no cost to our agency-no set-up or ongoing fee. The client pays the convenience fee of 3% with a minimum of $1 and can see the amount before accepting the charge. The snip-it below and the attached document show the website address and phone # (866) 480-8552.
A few of us have the shortcut on our desktop ready to take their information over the phone or in the office. If the client brings their card with them, they may swipe it using the box that was provided to us at no cost. Clients may use their phone or PC to enter their own information. The payment shows up on our bank statement within a few days and the detail is found on the website shown below under “reports”.
